Ok, so that’s a weird title for a writing about horses. But as I fed each one of my guys their suppers and just lightly held my hands on their backs while they ate I realized that the relationship between me and ‘the herd’ has gone beyond intimacy in the human sense of the word .. transcending even spiritual boundaries so my soul connects to equine soul. What an awesome, humbling feeling. Rarely do we find this kind of relationship with other humans as the egos, our egos, get so much in the way. Our defenses are always ‘up’ and we’re always on guard. But with horse – the horse is totally open and honest and simply … who he/she is. One is one and there’s no other hidden agendas or motivations or planned deceits. Each one is truth. Period. What you see is what you get. With a connection so pure, so open, so honest … its a feeling that takes one beyond the earthly realm of the world and into the inner energies of God and HIS workings … the relationship we *should* have with him and His son. After all, He knows what’s in our hearts more so than we do ourselves. And so it is with our horses. We can’t fool them. We can’t pretend to be someone we’re not – we can’t even hide the most momentous secret of our hearts. God knows. The horses – they see us all. They see what’s in our hearts and they connect – if we let them. And yes, its about if WE allow them to enter into our spiritual realm – our very heart of hearts. The horse is always ready to connect. Always. Their world is a world full of connections for their very survival. In order to exist each horse HAS to connect with another being – be it another horse or a human or another soul. What a tremendous gift this is. What a profound teaching that the horse has to share with his or her human. Are you listening? Are you willing to learn? Turn yourself inside out and allow your horse to *see* you as you really are. I can guarantee you that in as much as God wants to connect with each one of His children, the horse wants to connect with his human. What a gift God has given to each one of us who has the humbling life with horses. What a gift – sometimes its truly only through the horse that we CAN see God for who HE is …
